Some of the pictures have some unnatural distortion as I have blended photos for the wide panoramic effect.

Stanford Stadium

Not only has the track been removed here, the entire stadium was leveled and rebuilt.

This photo is facing northwest. Note the positioning of the 3rd relay zone, which shows just how wide the turns are. Over 100,000 seats in this stadium. Its too bad we don't need a stadium that big for our track meets. But our biggest meet, the National Championships have been held at the new track (that needs to add supplemental seating for 10,000) located less than a quarter mile away across a parking lot.

The perspective of the camera does not show the tilt this track has. These are almost NASCAR banked turns. It does show the extra lane for sprints.

This hasn't been maintained in a long time, so the wear shows the repairs, which appear to been rubber particles layered over the original Tartan surface.

The stairs block lane 7 all the way around the track, so there are only 6 usable lanes. Throughout the stadium the wear spots show, the puddles show the deepest indentations. Also note how the lower surface is curling up along the curb. The sprint start area shows the wear exposing various repairs and resurfacing efforts over the years. This (historical) track will probably not be fixed, it will be slowly worn by the joggers who still use it until they decide to tear it up. Rumors already abound. Steeplechase and field event facilities have already been removed.
